- **Type:** Historic site
- **Province or region:** Sindh
- **Best season:** November to February

The name means "mound of the dead" in Sindhi. The city was abandoned around 1900 BCE and rediscovered in the 1920s. Its streets run on a grid, houses are of fired brick, and nearly every one has a bathroom and a drain, which tells you something about how organised life was. No palace or royal tomb has been found, and the script on the seals has still not been deciphered.

The site is open and exposed, with very little shade. Go early in winter, take water, and hire a guide.
