Ratti Gali is a glacial lake high above the Neelum Valley, reached by a day's hike from Dowarian, and open only from July to September.
The trail leaves the road at Dowarian and climbs through meadows, rock and sometimes snow for several hours. The lake sits in a bowl of mountains and, in early summer, still has ice floating in it. Start early, take a guide and carry layers.
