Sharda

A small town with the ruins of an ancient place of learning

Sharda is a small town on the Neelum River with the ruins of Sharda Peeth, an ancient temple and centre of learning.

Sharda Peeth was a temple and a place of study associated with a script and a body of learning from Kashmir. Today only walls remain, on a slope above the river. The town itself is a small stop on the road to Kel. Visit with a guide, since it lies close to the Line of Control.

Highlights
