Murree is a British-era hill station about an hour and a half from Islamabad, popular for its cool summers and its occasional snow.
Murree was founded by the British in 1851 as a summer retreat. It is the most visited hill station in Pakistan, which means it is crowded and noisy on weekends. Come midweek, or continue to the quieter Galiyat further on. Snow in January and February brings thousands of visitors from Islamabad, and the roads can jam.
