Ziarat

A juniper forest, said to be thousands of years old

Ziarat is a hill town in one of the largest juniper forests in the world, with the wooden Quaid-e-Azam Residency where Jinnah spent his last weeks.

The juniper trees grow very slowly, and some are said to be thousands of years old. The Residency, a wooden colonial cottage, was where Muhammad Ali Jinnah stayed in 1948, and it is now a museum. Ziarat is about three hours from Quetta. Summers are cool and winters can be heavy with snow.
