Aliabad

The commercial centre of Central Hunza

Aliabad is the busy centre of Central Hunza, with the main bazaar, shops and services, and the place where local people shop and where the roads meet.

Aliabad lies just below Karimabad on the highway and is where local people do their everyday shopping. The bazaar is busier and less polished than Karimabad's, and a good place to buy dried apricots, nuts and basic supplies. Many travellers come down from Karimabad to Aliabad for the bazaar and for onward transport.

Highlights

  • The main bazaar
  • Dried apricots, nuts and local crafts
