Ganish

One of the oldest villages in Hunza, a short walk from Karimabad

Ganish is one of the oldest settlements in Hunza, a small village of old stone houses and narrow lanes just below Karimabad, restored with help from the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.

Ganish is among the oldest settlements in the valley. Its stone houses, narrow lanes and old watchtowers have been cared for in recent years with help from the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, and people still live in them. Walk down from Karimabad in the morning, wander the lanes, and finish with tea. Please ask before photographing people or going into homes.

Highlights
