Nathia Gali and Ayubia are old British hill stations in the Galiyat, with pine forest, walking paths and a chairlift, and an easy escape from the heat.
The Galiyat are a string of small hill stations first developed by the British as summer retreats. Nathia Gali is the best known, with colonial-era cottages among the pines. The Pipeline Track between Ayubia and Khanspur is an easy, shaded walk of a few hours. Mushkpuri, about 2,800 metres, is a longer hike with views as far as the Pir Panjal.
The Galiyat are quieter than Murree and colder in winter, when snow is not unusual from January.
