Mahodand is a lake in the Usho valley above Kalam, surrounded by meadows and pine forest, about two hours by jeep from the town.
The track from Kalam follows the Ushu river through deep forest and is rough in places. The lake itself is calm and clear, with meadows around it and mountains behind. It can be reached only in summer, and it is quietest early in the day, before the day-trippers arrive.
